Process
The University of Houston's DigiFest is an event that showcases the works of digital media students. In the Page Layout & Design class at UH, students are challenged with the task of designing an identity system for DigiFest with a concept that works in harmony with other elements that the design uses. Concept: Using isometric shapes in the UH branding colors, I wanted to show how different parts of a whole can interact with each other to create something new. The concept that I wanted to convey is “synergy” - the idea that individual parts can combine to create something more.UH’s Digifest promotes this by allowing students to showcase their work and creativity while also connecting them with professionals working in the Digital Media industry. This interaction and exchange of ideas work together to create something much more than what each person can do on their own. The system is represented by a Rubik’s cube, with the colors shown being red, gold, and green. All parts of the vector are in flat colors but still have depth and dimension by the way they are presented. The design is minimalistic and includes more moments of negative space to draw attention to the system itself.
