Problem

How can we create a PWA that solves a common problem that people have?

type OF PROJECT
Web and App Development
YEAR
2022
ROLE(S)
UI/UX Designer, Coder, and Brand Designer
TOOLS USED
Clutch.io, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe XD

Process

I researched what kind of PWA I wanted to make before diving further into what problems the PWA could potentially solve. The rough outline of the PWA is as follows; WHO: The target audience are foodies and individuals who are interested in finding new places to eat in Houston, Texas. WHAT: Houston Foodies is an app for foodies that shows users nearby food places in Houston and allows users to create profiles to keep track of food places they want to visit. Users will be able to see reviews of other users, make their own reviews, and sort out places by category depending on what they’re in the mood to eat. WHY: The app’s goal is to make deciding where to eat easier, especially for those who are looking to try something new. With this app, users will be able to quickly narrow down different restaurants, dessert shops, and drink shops by looking through reviews and menu descriptions. HOW: The app will use information pulled from Google business pages and user generated information made within the app to recommend the user with personalized recommendations.

Results

The result is a Clutch.io mock-up of a Houston-catered PWA that helps locals find food according to the user's preferences. This project also won first place in the University of Houston's 2023 RedFest contest for Mobile App Design.
